Monticello Trail

We decided to take advantage of the great weather this weekend and walk the Monticello trail. After a leisurely lunch on the downtown pedestrian mall we parked at the base of Carter's mountain, loaded Charlie in the stroller and started up towards Tom's house...otherwise known as Monticello.

Approximately 5 miles round trip, the trail gently winds it's way up the mountain through native hardwood forest with glimpses of the Piedmont and Blue Ridge Mountains.  It's a nice walk, and it only took us 4 years of living here to finally do it!  At the top, you can visit Monticello or continue along the main road which takes you past vineyards, winding country roads and Ash Lawn Highland - the home of James Monroe.   I think we're going to be heading here a lot more!

Hey, nice to "see" you here! Such a coincidence since Charlie has been asking for Aunt Elizabeth to come visit ;) Enjoy the snow for us, I bet it's pretty!
